Tennis and padel are scored one press a point. Sports Club OS keeps the score, works out who serves and from which half, calls deuce, the tie-break and the change of ends, and says when it is break point, set point or match point. Starting the scorer, one phone scoring at a time, Undo and recording the result work as for every sport: see [Score a match point by point on a phone](https://sportsclubos.net/help/competitions/score-live/index.md).

## The rules it scores by

A new tennis competition follows the ITF Rules of Tennis 2026: games with advantage, sets to 6 games with a tie-break to 7 at 6-all, and the best of 3 sets (or 5, if the competition says so).

A new padel competition follows the FIP Rules of Padel 2026 with Star Point: at deuce, advantage; if it is lost, second deuce and second advantage; if that is lost too, one deciding point, the Star Point. Padel is doubles only.

Your club can offer other rules on Admin > Settings, **Scoring**: for tennis, no-ad, no service lets, a match tie-break to 10, short sets, Fast4, pro sets to 8, Tie Break Tens, a final-set tie-break, an advantage final set and reviews; for padel, golden point, advantage, one advantage then a golden point, a final set without a tie-break, Padel Australia's shorter formats and 20 seconds' rest at a tie-break's change of ends. See [Set the scoring rules for each sport](https://sportsclubos.net/help/competitions/scoring-settings/index.md).

## Before the first point

1. Press **Skip the warm-up**, or **Start the warm-up** (5 minutes for tennis, 3 for padel).
2. **Who won the toss?** Press the winner.
3. Press what they chose: **Serve** or **Receive**.
4. In doubles the scorer then asks, one at a time, who serves first for each pair and who receives on the right for each pair. The player who receives on the right takes the first point of each game, and keeps that side all set.
5. Where a game can end on a deciding point (no-ad, and padel's golden point or Star Point), the scorer asks **Mixed doubles?** Press **No**, or the answer that names two players of the same sex. In mixed doubles a deciding point is received by the player of the server's sex.

## Score the points

- Press the pad of the player or pair who won the point. The scores show as **0**, **15**, **30**, **40** and **Ad**, and in a tie-break as numbers.
- The status line gives the call, the server's score first: **Fifteen-Love**, **Thirty-all**, **Deuce**, **Advantage** and the name. After a game it says who won it and the games: **Game Stroud · Stroud leads 2-1**.
- When the receivers can win the game with the next point the status line ends with **Break point**. When a side can win the set or the match, its pad says **SET POINT** or **MATCH POINT**.
- Under the score the server's pad says **Serving**, and in doubles which player: **Udoka serving**. The other pad says who receives.

### The serving half

At the top of the server's pad, **Court** shows **Deuce** or **Ad** for tennis (**Right** or **Left** for padel): the half the next point is served from. It starts on the right in every game and changes by itself. If the server served from the wrong half, press the other one. The score and any first fault stand.

### Faults, lets and aces

Press **Decision** under the pads:

- **Fault: second serve**: the pad says **2nd serve**. Press **Decision** again for a second fault: **Double fault: point to** the receiver.
- **Ace: point to** the server: the point, counted as an ace.
- **Let: replay the serve**: the serve is played again, and a first fault stands. Competitions with no service lets, such as Fast4 (Australia), do not show it.
- **Let: replay the point**: the point is played again from a first serve.
- Padel only: **Interference**, then the pair. The first interference by a pair is a let; a later one gives the point to the other pair.
- Where the competition uses reviews: **Review**, the player, then **The call stands** or how it was overruled. Each side has 3 unsuccessful reviews a set and 1 more in a tie-break.

Under **More**, each side has **Code violation**: a warning, then a point to the other side, then (tennis) the game, or (padel) disqualification. Press it twice; the second press says what it will do. **Retired** is under **More** too. The sets and games already played stand.

## Deuce and a deciding point

In a game with advantage, **Deuce** and **Advantage** follow each other until a side wins two points in a row.

With no-ad, golden point or Star Point, the status line says **Deuce: deciding point, receivers' choice** (tennis), **Deuce, golden point** or **Deuce, Star Point** (padel). Before Star Point it says **Deuce**, **Advantage**, **Second deuce** and **Second advantage**. At a deciding point the top of the server's pad becomes **Receive**: press **Right** or **Left**, as the receivers chose. The receivers' pad names the player who receives it. In mixed doubles the side is set for you by the player of the server's sex.

## Tie-breaks and changes of ends

- At 6-all (or the competition's tie-break score) the status line says **6 games all · Tie-break**. The scorer works out who serves each point: one point, then two each in turn.
- The players change ends after the first, third and every odd game of a set. After the first game the status line says **Change ends**, with no rest. After the third and later odd games the screen gives way to the 90-second changeover, with **Start game** and the number. Press it when the players are back.
- In a tie-break the status line says **Change ends** every 6 points. Fast4's short tie-break changes ends once, after four points.
- When a set ends, the screen shows who won it and the score, then the 2 minutes between sets with **Start set 2** (or 3). The player or pair who served first in a tie-break receives first in the next set.

In doubles, **More** has each pair's serving and receiving order: at the start of a set, **… serves first this set** lets a pair choose again; during a set the same button puts a wrong server right.

## The court's TV

The TV shows both names, the games in each set, the points now, the serve beside the serving side and the points of this game. Its banner gives the same call as the phone, and the changeover and set break counts.

## When the match is over

The scorer shows the result and each set's score, with the aces and double faults (where any were pressed), the points each side won, the points won on serve, the break points won and the score of each tie-break. Press **Record the result**. The draw, table or ladder moves straight away.

> **Not built yet:** time violations, the 25-second (tennis) or 20-second (padel) clock between points, a medical time-out clock and Americano or Mexicano matches. A serve out of turn in singles is put right with **Undo**.
