# This year against last, and invoiced against received

> Compare income without GST this financial year so far with the same days last year, by stream, and see what was invoiced against received each month.

**Finance overview** answers two questions a treasurer is asked at every committee meeting: how is income going against last year, and is the money coming in as fast as it is invoiced? Every figure excludes GST, as the accounts show income.

## Before you start

You need to be able to see the finance figures. The Treasurer and Administrator can by default.

## Read the overview

1. Open Finance > Finance overview. It opens on this financial year.
2. To see an earlier year, choose it under **Financial year**. The last four years can be chosen.

## This year against last

- **This year so far**: income from the start of the financial year to today, excluding GST. For a year that has ended, **The year**.
- **The same days last year**: the same stretch of days a year earlier.
- **Change**: the difference, and as a percentage. With nothing last year it says **Nothing last year to compare**.
- **By income stream**: the same three columns for each stream: **Membership and joining fees**, each sport's courts, **Classes**, **Functions**, **Bar**, **Food**, **Pro shop and merchandise**, **Hire, lockers and table time** and **Other**.

This half counts money received, by the day it was paid.

If the club's money records in Sports Club OS begin part way through last year's days, a warning says so, for example **Part only: money records begin 25/06/2026, so last year's figures do not cover all of 01/07/2025 to 23/10/2025.** Last year's figures are then too low to compare.

## Invoiced against received

For each month of the year so far:

- **Invoiced**: invoices by the day they were issued (or first paid, if earlier), and the till's sales.
- **Received**: money received in the month.
- **Difference**: invoiced less received.
- **Owed at month end**: what issued invoices still owed at the end of the month. Drafts are left out. A voided invoice counts until the day it was last changed, so this figure is close but not exact for a month in which an invoice was voided.

**By kind of income** gives invoiced and received for the year so far by category: membership, joining fees, court hire and guest fees, bar and so on.

A line at the foot says how much of the income has estimated GST, from money imported from the system the club used before or older till sales.

## Things to know

- The financial year starts on the day set for the club's reports, 1 July unless the club changes it.
- Prepaid credit topped up at the till is not income until it is spent, so it is not counted here.
