# Changing the club's website

> For website editors: start a draft, change it by editing the page or asking the assistant, and send it for approval. An approver publishes it.

Who this is for: Anyone with “Change the website” or “Approve and publish the website” (by default: Administrator, Website Editor).

As a website editor you change the club's public website: its words, pictures, news and events. Every change is made in a draft, a private copy of the whole website, and goes live only when an approver publishes it. Every version that has been live is kept, so a mistake can be put right. The Website Editor role does this by default.

## Where things are

The website is a fold in the **Club** section of the menu:

| In the menu | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Club > Website > Modify | The draft and its editor, or **Start a draft** when none is open |
| Club > Website > Previous | Every version that has been live, who sent it and who approved it |
| Club > Website > View live | The public website, in a new tab |

If changing the website is all your login does, Sports Club OS opens on **Password & two-factor** when you sign in, because you have no Dashboard. Open Club > Website > Modify from the menu.

## 1. Start a draft

Open Club > Website > Modify and press **Start a draft**. The club has one draft at a time: if one is already open, **Modify** opens it. See [Start a draft and edit the page](https://sportsclubos.net/help/website/edit-the-page/index.md).

## 2. Change it

Above the draft, choose how:

- **Edit the page**: click words on the page and type, click a picture to swap it, and move, copy, remove or add blocks. See [Start a draft and edit the page](https://sportsclubos.net/help/website/edit-the-page/index.md).
- **Ask the assistant**: describe the change in your own words, such as "Add a news item about the club championships", and the assistant makes it in the draft. See [Ask the assistant to change the website](https://sportsclubos.net/help/website/ask/index.md).

Everything is saved in the draft as you go, and **Undo** steps back one change at a time. Nobody outside sees the draft.

## 3. Send it for approval

When the draft is ready, press **Send for approval…** and add a note for the approver. Sports Club OS checks the draft first, and stops it if anything is unfinished, such as a detail left in square brackets. The draft is then locked while it waits. See [Send a draft for approval](https://sportsclubos.net/help/website/send-for-approval/index.md) and [Why can't I send the draft for approval?](https://sportsclubos.net/help/website/q-cant-send/index.md)

## 4. What happens next

The approver reads exactly what changed, word by word, and either publishes it or sends it back with a note. Published, it reaches every visitor in about half a minute. Sent back, the draft opens again for you to change and send again.

The approver is the person named for this when Sports Club OS was set up for the club, and must have two-factor sign-in turned on. See [Approve a draft or send it back](https://sportsclubos.net/help/website/approve/index.md) and [Versions, and making an earlier one live again](https://sportsclubos.net/help/website/versions/index.md).

## What you cannot change

The join form and the functions enquiry form, and the live class timetable and room availability, come from Sports Club OS itself. They fill themselves in, and neither you nor the assistant can change them.

## Who to ask

- The approver, about a draft sent back.
- The club's administrator, for your login.
- **Help and feedback**, the button at the top right, for how to do something in Sports Club OS.
