# Save a filter and use it again

> Save the member list's filters under a name, apply them again with one press, rename or delete them, and send a message to whoever one finds.

A saved filter keeps what you set on the member list (the **Filters** panel's choices, any suburb words and the search box) under a name, so you can come back to the same group with one press. Saved filters are kept with your login, so they are there on any computer you sign in on. They are yours alone: nobody else sees them, an Administrator included.

## Before you start

You need to be able to see members. The Administrator, Head Coach, Casual Staff and Reporting roles can by default.

## Save a filter

1. On Club > Members > Members & contacts, set the filters you want, for example the tag **Pennant**. See [Find members and filter the list](https://sportsclubos.net/help/members/find-and-filter/index.md).
2. Press **Save this filter**, under the search box. A box opens beside it: **Name this filter**.
3. Type a name, such as "Pennant players", and press Enter or **Save**.
4. A message says **Filter "Pennant players" saved**. The name appears as a pill under the search box.

If you already have a saved filter with that name, Sports Club OS asks **Replace the saved filter "…"?** Press **Replace** to keep the new filter under that name, or **Cancel** to type another name. Escape, or clicking away with nothing typed, cancels.

If you sort the list before saving, the order is saved too.

## Use a saved filter

- Press its pill under the search box, or
- Open the **Filters** panel and press **Saved** at its top right. The list is headed **Your saved filters**. Press a name to apply it; the one in use is ticked.

![The member list with a pill "Pennant players" under the search box, and the Filters panel's Saved button pressed: a list headed "Your saved filters" with "Pennant players" ticked and a "…" button, and the note "Kept with your login. Communications can send a message to whoever one matches."](https://sportsclubos.net/help/img/members-saved-filters-1600.webp)
*The saved filter in use is ticked. Press "…" to rename or delete it. Shown in release 2026.10.29 · Members & contacts · as an Administrator.*

While a saved filter is in use, its pill has a ×. Pressing × stops using it, as **Clear** does: the filter stays saved.

## Rename or delete a saved filter

In the **Saved** list, press **…** beside a filter (or right-click it, or press and hold on a phone), then:

- **Rename…**: type the new name in the line and press Enter.
- **Delete…**: the line asks **Delete "…"?** Press **Delete**, or **Cancel**. A message says the filter is deleted, and that **A message already using it keeps its own copy.**

This menu is the only place a saved filter is deleted.

## Send a message to a saved filter

When you write a message under Communications, the **Who** step offers **Use a saved Members filter** from your own saved filters. The message takes a copy of the filter as it is at that moment, so renaming, changing or deleting the filter later leaves the message as it was. Who it goes to is worked out again when the message is sent, so it reaches whoever the filter finds then.

## Good to know

- Saved filters cannot be shared with others in the office. Each person saves their own.
- Saved filters on the Booking list are separate, and are kept in your browser only.
