The till keeps track of equipment the club hires out until it comes back, and of racquets taken in for stringing from the day they arrive to the day they are collected and paid for. Both need the connection.

## Hire out equipment

1. Find the member in the sale, if it is a member. Then press the **Hire** group and the item, such as **Racquet**.
2. For someone who is not a member, the till asks **Their name**: hire always goes to a named person. Type it and press **Add the hire**.
3. Take payment as usual.

The item is then out, due back after the time set on the product, or after the club's default. The till refuses to hire out more than the club has, for example **Racquet hire: 0 of 6 free.**

## Mark it returned

1. Press the **Out now** button (the clock) at the top of the till. It lists what is out, overdue first, with who has it and when it is due.
2. Press **Returned** when it comes back.

Each session's Z read lists any equipment still out when the till closed, and how many are overdue.

Lockers are sold as products of their own. The till does not track who has which locker.

## Take in a racquet for restringing

1. Press the **Restringing** button at the top of the till, then **Take in a racquet**.
2. Under **Whose racquet**, find the member, or type a visitor's name. For a member who has had a racquet strung before, **Same as last time** fills in the racquet, string and tension.
3. Fill in **Racquet** (make and model), choose the **String** from the shop's strings, and type the **Tension**, **Wanted by**, **Price** and any **Notes** for the stringer.
4. Tick **Print the tag and slip** to print a tag for the racquet and a slip for the customer.
5. Press **Take it in**. The job gets a number, such as R0004.

A job with its string and tension is **Open**; one without is a **Draft** until they are known.

## Move the job on

The jobs are listed by stage: **Draft**, **Open**, **In progress**, **Completed** and **Collected**. Press the job's button to move it on one stage:

- **Ready to string** (Draft to Open), **Start stringing** (Open to In progress), **Mark completed** (In progress to Completed).
- **Back a stage** corrects a mistake, up to In progress.
- **Print tag** prints the tag again.

When a job is completed, its charge waits at the till as a sale, and a member is emailed that their racquet is ready, with the charge. A message says, for example, **R0001 completed: $38.00 waits at the till; they have been emailed.** Once completed, the job's details and price are fixed: it has been charged.

## Collect and pay

When the customer collects the racquet, press **Collect and pay** on the job. The waiting sale opens at the till: take payment, and the job moves to **Collected**. The string comes off the shop's stock when the job is charged.

A price below what the string itself costs in the shop needs a manager's approval.

## If something goes wrong

- **"Hire goes to a named person: type their name or choose the member."** Type who is taking it.
- **"That has already come back."** The item was already marked returned.
- **"A restring moves one stage at a time: it is Open."** Move it one stage, then the next.
- **"Say the tension before the job is opened."** A job is opened only with the racquet, string and tension.
