What it is

Competitions & Leagues is run by the club’s own volunteer conveners. Set a competition up once, and the draw, the table and the results follow from the scores players enter.

Conveners see players, not their invoices or addresses. On public screens, anyone under 18 appears by first name and initial.

Everything it does

Every format
Ladders with challenges, box leagues that refill each round, round robins, and seeded knockout draws with a plate.
Events
One event with several grades and sports, entries the organiser approves, and one order of play for the courts they share.
Results
Any member can enter the result of a match that is ready. Its players can correct it, and the convener can correct or remove it. Every change is recorded.
Six sports
Squash, tennis, padel, pickleball, badminton and snooker. The club switches each sport on or off.
Live scoring
Score a match point by point from a phone in squash, tennis, padel, pickleball or badminton: warm-up, toss, then a press a point, with each sport’s own calls, such as lets and strokes in squash, tie-breaks in tennis, the Star Point in padel and the server’s number in pickleball. Undo is one press. The same scorer is free to anyone, for any match, as the free match scorer.
Scoring codes
Each match has a short code and a QR code. Anyone with it can open that match on a phone, signed in or not. The first phone to start scoring holds the match; every phone that opens it after that watches live and sees who is scoring. The convener can print the codes as A4 cards with each match’s players, round, court and time, and a court’s TV scoreboard shows its match’s code.
TV boards
A scoreboard for each court and wallboards for the foyer: a draw, a table, a ladder, or everything in play, updating as each point is played.
Put it on a TV
Preview any board and put it on a clubhouse TV in one press, in light or dark.
A club rating
A rating for each sport that moves with every result.
My matches
Each member’s own matches, what is open to enter, and the rankings.
Contact by choice
A player’s phone and email are shown only to the person they are drawn against, and only if they turn sharing on.
Results file
An export of results for rating services.

How it works

  1. The convener sets it up. Choose the format, open entries, and approve them.
  2. The draw is made. Seeded, boxed or laddered, and the order of play set.
  3. Players open the match by its code. They scan the QR code on the printed card or the court’s TV. The first phone to start scoring scores the match, and anyone else watches.
  4. Matches are played. Scored live from a phone, or entered afterwards by a player.
  5. Everyone follows. On the TV, on their phone and on the club rankings.

Who can do what

VisitorsAnyone given a match’s code opens that one match on a phone, signed in or not, and scores it if no phone has started, or watches it. They cannot correct a result.

These are the starting roles. The club can change what each role may do on its Roles & permissions page, give a person several roles, and take a role away when they step down. The server checks every request against those roles, so a hidden button is never the only protection.

Questions

Is it free?

The competitions tool is free for any club on its own. Start a free competition.

Does it connect to SquashLevels or UTR?

Not yet. Results export as a file for rating services.

Do results need confirming?

No. A result counts when it is entered, and can be corrected afterwards.

Can someone score a match without signing in?

Yes, with the match’s scoring code. The first phone to start scoring holds the match, and every phone after that watches.

Is there a scorer for matches outside a competition?

Yes. The free match scorer scores squash, tennis, padel, pickleball and badminton on any phone, with no account, and lets others watch with a code.
