Chase a proposer

An application waits at Waiting for proposer until the member who proposed the applicant says yes. If they have not answered, could not be found, or gave their answer on paper, chase it from the application's page.

Before you start

Recording decisions and chasing proposers is for the Administrator.

Open the application

Open Club › > Members › > Applications and press the application. Under Proposer and seconder, each one shows its state: Not asked, Asked, Said yes, Said no, Not found or None.

Ask them again

When the proposer was asked and has not answered, press Ask them again. They are emailed a fresh link. A message says Asked again, and What has happened records it.

The button is there only for a member the club has an email address for. A member with none shows who has no email address on file: record their answer yourself, below.

Find the member

If the person the applicant named could not be matched, the application says The proposer named could not be matched to a member. Find the member below, or record the committee's decision anyway. This happens when the number or email address given matches no current member, or matches more than one.

1. Press Find the member.
2. Type their Membership number.
3. Press Email them the question to ask them by email, at the address the club holds.

The same box adds a seconder when none was named.

Record their answer yourself

When you have the proposer's word another way, such as a signed form or a conversation:

1. Press Record their answer for them (or Find the member, if they were not matched).
2. Type their Membership number and How long they have known the applicant.
3. Press They have said yes: record it.

A message says, for example, Caroline Anand recorded as proposer, and the application moves to Ready for committee. The answer shows as recorded by you, with the time.

If something goes wrong

• "No member has the number …": check the number on the member list.
• "Say how long they have known the applicant.": fill in that box before recording a yes.
• The proposer said no. The application stays at Waiting for proposer and says The proposer said they do not support the application. The committee can still decide it.
