Overview
What TVs and Displays does
Put notices, opening times, coming events, courts, classes and function welcomes on the club's TVs, and choose what each TV shows.
Who this is for: Anyone with “Make and change displays” or “See all bookings” (by default: Administrator, Head Coach, Casual Staff, Sports Convener, Functions, Reporting).
TVs and Displays puts things on the club's TVs: notices, opening times, what is coming up, who is on each court, today's classes and a welcome for a function on its night. The club makes displays (slide shows) in Sports Club OS, and chooses what each TV shows from there. A TV opens its link once and is left on it. It keeps itself up to date and needs no sign-in.
Who uses it
- Making and changing displays, and setting the TVs: the Administrator, Head Coach, Casual Staff, Functions and Sports Convener roles by default. Anyone who can make displays can change anyone's. Your club can change this on Roles & permissions.
- Looking at what the TVs can show: anyone who can see all bookings can also open the Content page, open each screen and copy its link, without changing anything.
- Competition boards on a TV are for whoever runs competitions (the Sports Convener by default). A screen showing one is changed from Competitions. See Wallboards and putting a board on a TV.
Its pages
The menu has , which opens to two links:
| Link | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Displays | The club's physical TVs, each as a card showing what it plays now. Add a screen, give it a link to open on the TV, and choose what it shows. See Set up a TV and choose what it shows. |
| Content | Everything a TV can show: Your displays (the slide shows made here), Court bookings for each sport, Around the club (Classes today and Today at the club), and for people who can see competitions, Competitions with each running competition's board and a live scoreboard for each court. New display starts a new slide show. |
Opening a display from Content shows the display editor, where its slides are made. See Make a display.
Words it uses
- Display: a slide show made in Sports Club OS, with up to 30 slides. It has a link of its own, so it can also be opened on a TV's browser directly.
- Slide: one screen of a display. There are seven kinds: Message, Picture, Opening times, Coming up, Courts now, Classes today and Function welcome. The last four are live: they fill themselves in when the TV asks.
- Screen: one of the club's TVs (or iPads), on the Displays page, with a link of its own and something chosen for it to show.
- Board: a ready-made screen that fills itself in, such as a sport's court board or a competition's draw.
What it connects to
- Bookings: Courts now and the court boards show who is on each court, with names as the club's foyer wallboard shows them.
- Classes: Classes today and Coming up read the public class timetable.
- Competitions: Coming up names a match day and how many matches; the competition boards show draws and live scores.
- Functions: a Function welcome names a function only once whoever runs functions has switched it on for the club's screens, and only on its day while it is confirmed. See A function welcome slide.
A TV shows nothing more about members than the foyer wallboard already shows, and never a function's prices, hirer or guest details.
