Why can't I send the draft for approval?
Why a website draft is stopped when you send it (a detail in square brackets, nothing changed, the live site moved on) and what to do.
Who this is for: Anyone with “Change the website” (by default: Administrator, Website Editor).
Most often, the draft still holds something unfinished, such as a detail in square brackets. When you press Send for approval, the box says This draft cannot be sent yet. Put these right first: and lists each problem with the page it is on. Fix them, then send again.
Something is left unfinished
New or changed words cannot be sent while they hold any of these, because they would go live as they are:
- a detail still in square brackets, such as "[date and time]", which the assistant and the building blocks use to mark what to fill in
- filler words ("lorem ipsum")
- "TODO" or "TBC"
The problem names the page and quotes the sentence, for example News: Club championship finals: a detail still in square brackets is still there: "…". Open that page in the draft and change the words, on the page or by asking the assistant.
Nothing differs from the live website
Nothing in this draft differs from the live website, so there is nothing to approve. You have made no changes, or have undone them all. Make a change, or press Discard draft.
The website has a problem the check found
A page's code is not allowed, or a link or picture leads nowhere. The list says which page and what. Ask the assistant to fix it, or undo the change that caused it.
The live website has changed
The live website has changed since this draft was started (it was v5, it is now v6), so this draft cannot be sent. Start a new draft and make the changes again. Another draft was approved, or an earlier version was made live again, after yours was started. Your draft is based on what was live then, so it cannot be published over the newer one. Discard it and start again from the website as it is now.
The assistant is still working
A request is still being worked on. Wait for it to finish, then send. Wait for the reply in the conversation, or press Stop.
The button is missing
- The bar says "Waiting for approval". The draft has already been sent. Press Take it back to change it if you need to change it.
- There is no draft. Open and press Start a draft.
- You cannot see Website in the menu. Your roles do not include changing the website. Ask your club's administrator.
